Creating a Business Client and Adding an Account
Welcome to our Positive Pay Tutorial!
To get started, click on the "Settings" tab located in the top navigation ribbon of the screen.
Following this, click Business Clients to manage and configure your business client accounts.
Here, you’ll see a list of all your current business clients along with their associated settings. This view provides a convenient way to quickly reference client details and access common configuration options with ease.
From here, click the "Add Client" button to create a new business client account.
Next, type the business name into the "Business Name" field to continue. If you'd like, you can also add a Client ID but this step is completely optional. You’ll also see a few additional settings you can configure at this point. Don’t worry if you’re not ready to set them up right now, these options can easily be adjusted later after the initial setup is complete.
Next, configure the settings for both Check and ACH. These can share the same configuration or be set up differently, depending on your needs. If these services won’t be offered at the initial go-live, no problem—you can always enable and configure them later.
Lastly, add a point of contact for the business client. This user will have the ability to add additional users as needed. If you choose not to send the welcome email right away, don’t worry — it can be sent later. Most importantly, don’t forget to click Create New Client at the bottom to complete the setup.
Once you’ve added your business client, they’ll appear in the client list along with your other entries for easy reference. From here, you can also add and manage their account information as needed.
To add an account for Honey's Bakery, click on the 0 in the accounts column.
Then, click the "Add Account" button to create a new bank account.
Next, enter the account information by filling in the Account Name field. This helps identify the account within the Positive Pay system. - You can also set up optional security criteria, such as the number of days a check is valid, or the maximum check amount These settings act as safeguards, and any issued checks will be compared against them to detect potential exceptions. Note: Business clients can update these settings at any time, however, they cannot toggle on\off the Check and ACH availability.
Following that, click the "Add Account" button to complete the account setup.
Then, click Business Clients to navigate back to the main business clients list view.
Now you can see that our new business client has been successfully created with one user and one account. More users and accounts can be added at any time — but this is a great starting point!
