Positive Pay Data in TrueChecks
The Positive Pay Data Integration into TrueChecks can now be consumed via API. With the
previous Positive Pay Integration enhancements made in TrueChecks Portal and Batch
(released in Sprint 8 2025), the Positive Pay Integration license now works across all
TrueChecks channels.
For any client licensed to the Positive Pay Integration product, the Positive Pay API is called
when a TrueChecks query is made. If the Routing Number, Account Number and Check
Number match a Positive Pay record and there’s a known exception in Positive Pay, the
results of that exception are now included in the API response.
The PositivePayResult of the API response was also updated to include Issued Check
information:
o matchingIssuedCheck
▪ routingNumber
▪ accountNumber
▪ checkNumber
▪ amount
▪ payeeName
▪ issueDate
To accommodate for these updates, TrueChecks Portal will now display the
“Depositor/Payee” section when performing a TrueChecks query with the Positive Pay
Integration enabled, adding the ability for users to optionally query Positive Pay data for
“Payee Name” matches.
“Payee Name” is now provided across all channels as an optional query field (in addition to
the requisite required data: routing number, account number, check number, and amount).
For Positive Pay Integration clients, the Recommended Action logic has also been adjusted
to be weighed against Positive Pay exceptions. The Positive Pay Recommended Action will
only override the TrueChecks Recommended Action if the severity of the Positive Pay
Recommended Action is more severe.
For example, if a TrueChecks query returns a Recommended Action of “Extended Hold” for
a transaction and the matching Positive Pay transaction record comes back with exceptions
and a Recommended Action of “Hold”, the TrueChecks Recommended Action of “Extended
Hold” will take precedent.
Why is this useful?
Financial institutions can now utilize the Positive Pay integration with TrueChecks across all
channels. This will allow FIs to make more informed decisions on Recommended Actions by
leveraging matching Positive Pay data.
As a TrueChecks portal user, how do I query Payee Name against Positive Pay data?
1. As a user for an FI that has the Positive Pay Integration license enabled, login to
TrueChecks.
2. Navigate to TrueChecks.
3. Enter required check query fields.
4. Under the “Depositor/Payee” section, the “Name” field will now query Positive Pay for
checks with “Payee Name” matches that include exceptions.
As a TrueChecks API user, how do I query by Payee Name?
Please refer to the updated TrueChecks API documentation for details on how to query
Payee Name using TrueChecksSearch API.

What was done?
Updates to Depositor Search
With this release’s completion of Positive Pay Data in TrueChecks feature, several updates
were made to the Depositor Search feature to accommodate the changes to Payee Name.
If the Depositor Search is enabled in the Client Settings, the Depositor section in
TrueChecks Query screen will now display as the “Depositor/Payee” section.
If the client is licensed for Positive Pay Integration and the Depositor Search setting is
enabled, the “Name” field under the “Depositor/Payee” section will now query Positive Pay
for a matching “Payee Name” in addition to performing a Treasury Search for a matching
“Depositor Name”.
Why is this useful?
This adds the ability for FIs and their users to easily query both Payee Name and Depositor
Name concurrently.
How do I use it?
1. No additional user action is needed
