Whenever a NACHA or custom ACH file is uploaded successfully to TrueACH, three features within the TrueACH portal will be updated: Upload, Results, and Batch. While the Upload tab shows the status of file uploads and the Results tab fulfills the primary alert functions of TrueACH, the Batches tab further adds to a user’s ability to research, authenticate, and audit ACH transactions while also enhancing the way they prepare their ACH files for submission.
The Results tab typically displays ACH transactions that were processed through an institution’s Batch Rules (see our Batch Rules guide here for more information). These are the automated transactions that provide details like Account Status, AOA scores, SEC codes, recommendations, and so on directly on the Results tab by default.
However, TrueACH also stores the batch’s transactions that have not been searched, per the Batch Rule configurations or otherwise. To view all transactions uploaded with a batch, simply click the Batches tab itself located at the top of the TrueACH portal next to Results. Once there, select which batch’s results to view using the dropdown located at the top-left above the table. These unprocessed transactions are saved for two reasons: potential manual validation and NACHA file generation.
Batch Manual Validation
By default, the Batches tab shows all transactions within the respective batch file – whether they were processed or not – in descending order by Account Number. The order and filters can be further adjusted in much the same way the Results tab functions. The notable difference between the two is the “Validated” column located on the right-most side of the table, as shown in the image below.
Transactions that have already been validated (i.e. processed) will be checked off in this column and will usually have the validation results (recommendations, account status, etc.) available. Meanwhile, transactions that were filtered out will have empty boxes in this column and no additional details. If a user wants to Validate one or more transactions using this feature, they can select one or more of them on the left-most column and then click the Validate button in the top-right above the table afterward.
Once this has been done, the queries and subsequent details for the selected transactions will now be available in both the Batches tab and the Results tab like all the other transactions.
Generating NACHA Files with Batches
Additionally, users can also generate entirely new NACHA files from the Batches tab which include updated details provided through TrueACH. Most notably, if users have taken action on transactions, these details will transfer onto the newly generated NACHA file.
To generate a new NACHA file, access the Batch tab and select the desired Batch, as detailed above. There should be a “Create NACHA file” button located above the table at the top-left of the screen like this:
Once the button is clicked, the NACHA file will be generated for future use elsewhere. Once a Batch file has been uploaded, users can access the batch in TrueACH and create NACHA files for it whenever needed.
