What's new in Positive Pay
This release gives financial institutions more control and transparency over Positive Pay. It refines how default decisions are managed across business clients, makes user permissions more granular and secure, and stabilizes the dates that drive exception decisions. Everything below is live now — most updates apply automatically with no setup required.
- Consistent default decisions & clearer cutoff times — FI-managed decision settings and a live cutoff banner for business clients.
- More granular, more secure permissions — refined Manage / View access plus new permissions for files, notifications, and rules.
- More stable exception & presented dates — decisions now align to documented check events using existing file data.
Consistent default decisions & clearer cutoff times
Financial institutions now have refined control over the Default Decision applied across all business clients. Check Default Decision and ACH Default Decision are now FI-managed settings, ensuring consistency across your clients. Apply Return Reason remains business-client managed when the related default decision is set to Return.
Once a Default Decision Cutoff Time is configured, business clients see a clear information banner across the top of their Exceptions screens — in both Grid and Card View — showing today's cutoff time and how much time remains before automatic decisions are applied.
For decision files uploaded via SFTP, the system now automatically retries delivery up to three additional times if the initial upload fails.
BENEFIT: Greater control over consistency across business clients, plus clearer visibility into decision cutoff times.
More granular, more secure permissions
Manage Account and View Account permissions have been refined. Manage Account now grants edit access to core administration — Account Settings, Accounts, Business Clients, Users, Roles/Permissions, Branding, Holiday Schedules, API, Web Hooks, and System Log. View Account grants view-only access to the same areas.
We've also added more granular permissions so you can tailor access precisely: Manage / View Files and Notifications, Manage / View Check Rules, and Manage / View ACH Rules. Existing roles have been updated automatically to include the matching refined permissions — no reconfiguration required.
BENEFIT: More controlled, more secure user access for both financial institutions and business clients.
More stable exception & presented dates
We've updated how key dates are determined. The Exceptions screen now displays a stable first validation date rather than a value that could change when new issued checks are uploaded.
For presented dates, the x9 file parser now uses the business date already contained in the file — falling back to the cash letter business date, then today's date — instead of always defaulting to today.
No action required — these updates apply automatically.
BENEFIT: Decisions and recommended actions align more closely to documented check events.
Also fixed
- Admins can now log out while impersonating another user, even when "Hide Logout Option" is enabled.
- New Exception notifications now send reliably in previously-missed edge cases.
